I hate it here

So just let me say..
It's another attempt at a blog. I do well with them but then I run out of steam or another project catches my eye and I "ohh shiny!!"
But this will be the place where I vent my mind a little, well okay, a lot. All the campaign season is going have me full of rage on a day to day basis, so I might as well vent it here. Gonna shoot for a post a week, and I'll prettify this place as I see fit.
Those of you with a sense of taste will notice that the title of my blog matches the title of Spider Jerusalem's column in Transmetropolitan. If you have not read Transmetropolitan stop what you are doing, right now, and go read it. I'll wait.
Well I can see from the profound look of shell shock and gleeful desire for destruction in your eyes that you finished it. Good Job. I like to think Spider is my totem animal.
Now then onto the meat of this. We're entering election season and as we do I find myself facing the desire to smack people upside the head daily. Not the day to day guy in the street, no it's more like the evil fucks at websites and focus groups. Those people need to be beaten from pillar to post. Maybe make it an event. Have them start in New York then relay the beatings till they're a bloody mess by the time they hit Boston.
"So why the hate Dave?" Glad you asked.
It comes down to a concept. Enforced ignorance. For about the last 20 years there's been a rush on in conservative media circles to create an echo chamber. Telling their public that they can really only trust information if it comes from them. It began with Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. Which are pits of nuclear level confirmation bias.
Then it expanded out into Breitbart and The Drudge report. Where they would get just enough news right. (Often taken from other sources) So they could hide gems of complete disinformation and sow the fields of public discourse with enough bullshit to fertilize an area the size of California.
Now it's become common place on social media to have debates where the conservative side won't give any ground no matter what evidence you show them.
"Dude it's a peer reviewed study from MIT!"
"Yeah that's a breeding ground for the liberal elite."
And at that moment I usually have to be physically restrained from harming them or myself.
Which brings up another point, the use of the word elite. Elite means a select part of a group that is superior with abilities or qualities. In that case MIT is definitely elite. I think they lead the league in Nobel prizes. So when MIT Cal Tech and colleges across the world have peer reviewed studies I tend to pay attention.
Those in the echo chamber do not. They have been told to trust their gut, or their preacher, or "common sense." But definitely don't trust those know it all scientists!!
There's an evil part of me that would like to get into the right wing spin machine and go all "project mayhem" on that bitch. Leaving messages like "Fuel oil can fertilize your lawn" or "gravity only works if you let it." Or "Hey put you're hand in there, whats the worst that can happen?"
I guess in the end what makes me mad is something that has infuriated people for decades. We live in an age where we have an access to information that's unprecedented. Then some bright guys realized this and proceeded to cloud the library stacks with the equivalent of old Chick tracks, copies of dianetics and a guide to sex written by a Catholic priest. Sure all those might have information, but nothing I would stake my life on.
Here's why I admit to preaching to the choir. If you're reading this, it's quite likely you inform yourself in a lot of ways. If I may ask though don't read just far enough to confirm your belief. Instead look deep. don't worry the porn on the internet will still be there, but allow yourself to fall into a place made up of libraries of the world. Where for just a brief moment you might see something you never expected.
If that doesn't interest you then. Please just allow me to say.
Just sayin
